HedgeStar connects with teens in a unique opportunity.
Minneapolis, MN – During the 2017 annual sales and planning meeting the teams from HedgeStar and sister company Blue Rose Capital Advisors teamed up to support the Cookie Cart, a local 501(c)(3) non-profit that provides teens with meaningful work, life, and leadership skills through experience and training in an urban bakery.
At the Cookie Cart, teens must attend and complete several training courses which include leadership, customer service, and financial literacy classes. Teens will also obtain an industry recognized credential of National Career Readiness Certificates, ServSafe, and/or Digital Literacy.
HedgeStar volunteers worked side-by-side with youth employees to scoop fresh dough, hand decorate cookies, and assemble bakery boxes. By assisting with the actual process volunteers had the opportunity to talk with teens, hear about their experience at Cookie Cart, and share how they found their career path at HedgeStar.
“Every year we choose a non-profit organization to volunteer with during our annual meeting,” said Johan Rosenberg, Chairman and Founder of HedgeStar. “Part of our mission is to give back as much as we can.”
“I always look forward to the annual service project,” said Diane Miller of HedgeStar. “It’s so great that we’re able to help teens locally. It’s nice to be able to meet the teens you’re helping to support too.”
In prior years HedgeStar has volunteered with Doctor’s Without Boarders, Habitat For Humanity, Feed My Starving Children, and the Sandwich Project of Minneapolis. “Our annual service projects are an annual tradition that our employees really enjoy, and I look forward to carrying on the tradition for years to come,” commented Rosenberg.
